Mail.com Now Offers Voice Access to Its E-mail Service Through Shoutmail Partnership

New Phone Access to E-mail Service Allows Members to Send and Receive E-mail from Any Telephone

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2000-- Mail.com, Inc., a leading global provider of Internet messaging services to the business and consumer markets, today launched its phone access to e-mail service giving Mail.com members voice access to their e-mail account. The new service, powered by Shoutmail.com, a premier provider of Internet-telephone applications, allows Mail.com members to send and receive e-mail messages from any telephone or cell phone. To use the service, scroll to the bottom of the Mail.com welcome page and click on "Listen to your e-mail by phone."

Using any telephone device, Mail.com members can now dial a local phone number and access their e-mail via voice (text-to-speech) for free and can then reply to their e-mail by recording voice messages, which appear as voice-attachments on e-mail messages. The service also allows members to access their Mail.com address book via the telephone and send e-mail to any recipient saved in their records. Because Shoutmail.com provides Mail.com members with hundreds of local phone numbers throughout the country, the phone calls are free. Mail.com, through its Shoutmail partnership, will offer members wireless access to their e-mail accounts in the near future.

"In today's hectic business environment, giving people the flexibility to access their e-mail account from the telephone is a key ingredient to maintaining a competitive edge in the marketplace and is in line with our strategy to create a comprehensive communications portal," said Lon Otremba, chief operating officer of Mail.com.

"E-mail is the Internet's 'killer app' and many people rely on it for day-to-day business and personal use. Since we've made sending and receiving e-mail as easy as picking up the telephone, we're offering a real value-added benefit for our users," added Otremba.

"We are extremely pleased that Mail.com users can now benefit from Shoutmail's unique infrastructure for connecting Web-based e-mail with the phone.

Shoutmail is a one-of-a-kind platform that is the ideal ASP solution for quickly hooking up e-mail providers with phone access. We look forward to working with Mail.com to continue to bring new phone-access applications to the Web," said Shoutmail.com President and CEO Jacob Guedalia.
